Louis Guiabern Boss Guide

By
Jarrod Garripoli

The party has planned on taking out Louis at the Opera House, with them splitting up to take on different roles. The protagonist and "Eupha" iconEupha have clearly defined jobs to get to the roof and get the hit on Louis themselves. They seem to have succeeded with their plans, but in leave the Opera House, things take a turn for the worse, when the plans is shown as failing. You will now have to fight with a weakened Louis Guiabern on the rooftop.

You will have to do battle with a slightly weakened Louis on the Opera House rooftop.

All of Louis Guiabern’s Attacks

The fight with Louis on the Opera House rooftop is pretty straightforward, with not a single twist to it.

  • Soul Cry: Louis will always use this on his first action each turn, granting him two more Turn Icons.

  • "Royal Slash" iconRoyal Slash: Deals medium physical Slash damage to one character twice.

  • Royal Coercion: Decreases Attack/Defence for one character by two ranks for 3 turns.

Louis Guiabern Boss Strategy

The first thing that should be pointed out is that Louis will start this battle at half health, so that’s definitely something that works out to your advantage here. Note that you will be able to form your party prior to the battle starting, but you won’t be able to change anyone’s equipment/Archetypes. As you can see above, Louis doesn’t have a lot of attacks, but he will always start a turn with Soul Cry to give himself two extra Turn Icons. So, every turn, he will essentially have three actions and will mostly be using Royal Slash to attack a single character.

This attack can hurt quite a bit, especially if he focuses on a single character for all of his Turn Icons. It’s even worse if he manages to use his other skill prior to attacking. Royal Coercion is a debuff that lowers a single character’s attack and defence by two ranks for three turns. This is why it’s a good idea to have "Dekunda" iconDekunda, or you could just counter it by using "Marakukaja" iconMarakukaja. The attack debuff isn’t so bad, since it just makes the battle longer, but you could also try to debuff Louis’ hit rate/evasion.

(1 of 5) Louis is neither weak nor strong to anything, so use whatever you want for damage.

Either way, his only real attack is a single target one, so it’s entirely possible to try and cheese this fight a little bit. Have someone with "Knight's Proclamation" iconKnight’s Proclamation be in the back row, as a "Knight" iconKnight as they resist Slash attacks, then use that skill to basically coerce him to only using it on them. You will need to heal them every so often, but the other characters can solely focus on attacking. Louis isn’t weak nor strong against anything, so all attacks are fair game.

Once you beat Louis here, there will be a lot of cutscenes and story. At some point, you will gain the final party member and be able to do some limited exploring of Altabury. Note that you’ll have to actually disembark from the runner, and return to it to continue. From there, you can then rest to trigger a lot more story scenes. After all is said and done, another boss will be waiting for you.
