Gate of Faded Glories Quest Location

Before you can start this quest, you’ll first need to proceed through the game until you unlock Lace Harding’s first Companion Quest, An Unfamiliar Sense, shortly after completing one of the Sea of Blood or The Smuggling Case Main Quests and returning to The Lighthouse. With this quest accepted, return to the Crossroads to discover you can now take the boat in the center on Beacon Island, this will take you to Elvhenan’s Haven.

Head north and dispatch the group of Antaam and then when presented with a fork, go to the left, grab the nearby crystal close to the gate and place it on the pedestal to erect a bridge you can cross to the west. More enemies await here so deal with them how you wish and then go down the stairs to the northwest to reach an open area, in the northeast here is the gate that unlocks the Gate of Faded Glories when approached. If you check your journal, you’ll discover that you won’t be able to reach the area where the Champion is located for this quest yet.

Take the bridge over in Elvhenan’s Haven to find the Gate.

Gate of Faded Glories Champion Location

You’ll have to wait some time before you can access the Champion, you’ll need to continue through the Main Quest until you complete the A Warden’s Best Friend main quest where Davrin will join the Veilguard. Return to the Lighthouse a few times after leaving and eventually you’ll gain access to his Companion quest, How to Train a Griffon, this will open up a new part of Arlathan Forest, which just so happens to be where you need to go.

After the quest is complete, return to the Beacon in the Tainted Woods section of the forest, situated in the northeast. You’ll find the way to the southwest is blocked by Blight Boils, so go toward the ladder leading back and you’ll find a stone platform you can raise and the first Blood Boil, this will allow you to get into the area beyond it. This is a rather enclosed pit and it’s chock full of Darkspawn and the Blight Cyst that houses the Champion you’re looking for.

(1 of 2) Go to the Tainted Woods in Arlathan Forest and get rid of this Blight Boil and use the stone platform to reach the pit.

Your first task is to ignore that Cyst and deal with the Blood Boils and the other Darkspawn, there’s not much space to maneuver here and the more enemies that you have to deal with, the greater the difficulty of the battle. Once the area is relatively clear, break the Cyst to face Entarus the Rekindled.

Entarus the Rekindled Boss Guide

When it comes to the difficulty of the Gate Champions, only one is lower level than Entarus, who is Level 25 himself. While Entarus can cause a lot of problems himself, the greatest difficulty of this battle is the arena in which you fight him, you’ll need to pay attention to your surroundings at all times so you can avoid his attacks, especially when you take him down to half health. Entarus has many attacks available to him, which you can learn about below:

Melee Combo

Entarus’ melee combo will see him slam the ground around him before taking a swipe, which will hit an arc in front of him. This is his most common attack and something that you should be able to deal with by simply creating some distance or timing some Perfect Defense if you’re confident.

(1 of 2) Entarus’ melee combo consists of two pounds and a swipe, you can deflect this.

Arcane Missiles

You’ll spot five orbs that sit above Entarus and he will fire these off towards you from time-to-time. For this reason, always pay attention to the status of them and be ready to dodge roll out of the way.

Charge

Entarus will charge toward you, indicated by a line of arrows toward you, at the same time, he will fire off any Arcane Missiles he may still have around him. Simply dodge to the side to have him run into a wall and then get behind him for some free attacks.

Triple Ground Pound

Entarus will pound the ground which shoots a shockwave in a line, indicated by the red area-of-effect (AoE) marker. He will do this three times in a row, so be sure to dodge to the side of each as he will aim them where you’re currently standing.

(1 of 2) Entarus will charge at you, dealing heavy damage should he hit you.

Stomp

Entarus will stomp the ground and deal a huge AoE attack around him, look for the indicator and back away to avoid this simple attack.

Entarus the Rekindled Boss Strategy

The battle against Entarus becomes a lot easier if you cleared the area of Blight Boils and other Darkspawn first, it then comes down to whether you can deal with his Arcane Missiles or not as the rest of the battle isn’t overly difficult (provided you’re around the level of the boss). Be sure to have access to Primers and Detonations, such as the Weakening combo between Bellara and Davrin (who can use fire-attacks that Entarus is vulnerable to) and if your Class allows it, any attacks that can Stagger.

The reason for this is because you can actually stun Entarus out of a few of his attacks with skills that have heavy Stagger, such as the Warrior Slayer’s Heroic Leap skill. If you’re confident in your ability to hit Perfect Defense, you can also deflect his melee combo with ease, this will bring him to his knees and give you time from some free attacks.

(1 of 2) Deflect Entarus’ melee combo to bring him to his knees.

Gate of Faded Glories Rewards

Now that you have the Champion’s Essence in your hands, loot the nearby chest for an All-Mother’s Copse Amulet and then return to the gate at the Crossroads to unseal the gate. This will end the quest and grant you access to the area beyond, where you can find some more Gear Chests, a Wolf Statuette needed for the Regrets of the Dread Wolf quest, and some more Altars.
